Anyone suffer from lens creep? I've been using these little guys... pretty handy!

My 24-70 also creeps... well it did until I took it for a service. The canon guys sorted in out easily enough.

I use an 18-200 for much of my work and pleasure photography that has that same zoom creep problem. One of the bands that I use is from BrainTumor.org, which strikes me as a bit odd whenever I think about it.

When is lens creep a problem? The only time I can see it being an issue is if you are using the camera tripod mounted with the lens pointed up/down.... My macro lens is a prime and the focus doesn't creep so no, I've never used one.

It can be an issue with some lenses when you're carrying the camera lens down (say, on a strap). It's more of a problem when you're shooting one handed, which I need to do quite often when shooting industrial process photography, and occasionally when shooting macro.

If you have one hand on the shutter release and the other hand on the zoom ring, it's not an issue.

I have a 28-300 that will extend when carried if I don't lock it....Not really a "problem" though. All of my other lenses are internal zoom. The will change position when carried but that's not usually an issue either....unless you are trying to use the zoom more like a prime.
I just realized I do that when using my 300-800 handheld and occasionally lens creep is annoying.
Do these things get in the way at all? If not, maybe I'll give one a try.

On the 18-200, at least, when the band is placed correctly I don't even notice it unless for some reason I'm trying to find out what my focal length is. (The band covers the numbers.) There's slightly more friction when zooming, but not enough that I notice it at all.
