Default AA battery grip for Nikon DSLR?

I wander if there are any battery grip using AA battery for Nikon DSLR (e.g. D5100)? It is just too expensive to buy two D5100 battery (USD60 each)

look here battery grip using AA battery.. http://www.mudah.my/New+MeiKe+Batter...0-11358536.htm Wow, this is very interesting but the price is a bit expensive ==> RM199 = 199/3 = USD 66..

According to Jeremy (a friend of mine),
Quote:
All D5100 in the market cant use AA battery. Why is this so? It is because D5100 is not designed to support a battery grip. You will find out original Nikon doesnt have battery grip for D5100, only third party has. Even all the third party D5100 has an extra cable to connect the vertical shutter button. But why no AA battery? As D5100 is not designed to use a battery grip, lots of features like dials, AE Lock buttons and AA battery usage capability is not available.
That makes me hate D5100 even deeper..

Thats what happens when you dont do your research ahead of time. None of the D40/40x/60/3000/5000/3100/5100 models have Nikon-brand battery grips, and the ones you *can* get from third-party manufacturers are going to be workaround solutions and are, therefore, not perfect. $66 for a battery grip is actually cheap.

As for using AA batteries: some after-market grips will support it, but that varies from model to model. All Nikon-brand grips support AA batteries.

OsmosisStudios,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I went to buy D5100 1 day before my baby's 1 year old birthday without any planning in a rush. Ya, that makes me real sad with my D5100. The EN-EL14 battery is around USD 70-80 each (much cheaper in US). I really hope the 3rd party grip can support AA battery one day.

I have been hearing good things about this battery

Amazon.com: Compatible Li-ion Battery for Nikon EN-EL14: Camera & Photo

it doesnt work on the 5100 as advertised howver read into the customer reviews. you have to trick the camera by combining this battery with an original nikon battery utilizing a third party battery grip.
