Hi all would really appreciate some advice, I own a Canon 1000d and are still very much learning the art of photography, but I really enjoy the hobby and want to expand my horizons a little. The camera came with the typical kit lens and 18-55 IS Lens, and I also bought the 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS at the same time.
I really want a larger telephoto lens but money certainly is an issue and the Canon range really are out of my price range. I have been looking at the Tamron 200-500mm F5-6.3 SP DI and also the sigma 150-500mm. I completely understand these will not compare to the Canon range but would really appreciate views on anyone's experience with these lenses and which you would recommend Many thanks Mark |

I'd get the Sigma 50-500 OS....I had one and did well with it. It's a slow lens, but they all are in that price range.
It is beter than the 150-500 but not faster (it does have image stabilization). I'd get either Sigma over the Tamron.
