Default Can't get the ST-E2 transmitter to work

Hi guys,
Ok this might sound silly, I am sure I am overlooking something but I hope you can help me out!

I have a Speedlite 430EX II for my Canon...and I got the ST-E2 Yongnuo transmitter for it.
I can't get it to work
The flash unit will not respond. Worse thing is,I can't find my flash's manual.

Can you help? Is there a setup I must do first or should it work straight ouf the box?
I've made sure the transmitter is facing the flash, I am like 4 feet away, and the transmitter fires but the flash will not "listen" to it.

I know there are channels (4), but I can't find how to set up the flash's channel...but I did try all 4 with the transmitter. Nothing!

What am I doing wrong???
Thank you so much for your help!!
T.

Did you put the 430EX II into "slave" mode? You have to do this to tell the 430EX II to stop listening to the hotshoe, and start listening to the wireless sensor. To get into slave mode, hold down the ZOOM button for two seconds. "Ch." and "SLAVE" should appear in the LCD.

To set the channel: press the ZOOM button again until "Ch." blinks. Then use +/- buttons and SET to select the channel.

To set the group: cycle through with the ZOOM button until "SLAVE" blinks. Then use +/- buttons and SET to set the group (you probably want A, unless you've got another EX you're setting off).

Then match the channel/group on the ST-E2.

Download and keep this for your 430EX II: http://www.learn.usa.canon.com/app/p...QuickGuide.pdf

Christ, and here I thought getting my SBs into slave was a menu chore.

There's a reason I love the dedicated hardware switch for selecting slave mode on my 580EX and 430EX.

On the Mark IIs, it got replaced with the quick-lock switch for the foot.
