Default Film for a 365, suggestions?

I'm planning a 365 next year and would like to shoot all the final images on film, and since Australian film prices are ridiculous I'd like to order from B&H or Adorama.

What I'm asking is, what films do you guys think I should buy? I'm all for all suggestions of print/slide and black and white film.

Thanks

First I thought your question was like asking "should I paint in oils, chalk, watercolors, or pencils? " ...But then I looked at the selection of 35mm films available at B&H and thought what's the point? There is NO selection of film. How sad, digital killed a lot of cool film types (or made them so scare that you can't find them.)
Anyway, without any more whining from me, I would shoot
Tri-x and FP4 for B&W print, Velvia for slide. Or Provia if you wanted something faster. For color print Portra.

I don't know if there's any difference in prices, but you might want to check out Fujifilm - Professional Film online shop if you decide to go with any of Fujifilm films. It's their UK online store, they have worldwide delivery and I had a good experience ordering from them.

Zona: It's really sad how little film there is, I still shoot predominantly film but everything seems to be getting more expensive and in the case of my developer, worse in quality. I haven't tried tri-x and provia but I'll definitely add them to my list. Thanks for the advice.

Milosh: The website looks great but at the look of their shipping policy they only just stopped shipping outside the UK, bummer x.x

If you can control your white balance or lighting in any way and can get daylight or daylight-balanced, Kodak Ektar100 is amaaaaazing. It's finicky with white balance, but it's just wonderful.

I also use Portra VC (160 or 400) for portraits: its got a creamy skin-tone rendition that makes portraits easy-peasy.

If you wanna shoot slides, Provia is your best bet, but Velvia has it's own look.

For black and white, you have several options. Easiest is C-41 process stuff like Ilford XP2, which is good but not the best (+2/3 for best results). If you dont mind a slower-speed film, I vastly prefer Ilford's Pan-F 50.

Osmosis: Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't tried Ektar but I'll put it on my list, is it the replacement for their "Professional" film? although I believe that was in 200. Also Portra is lovely and I'm definitely in need of more of that.

As for slide film, do you know the differences between Provia and Ektachrome? I've shot some velvia 50 and 100 but have yet to develop any.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hm, that's a shame, I didn't know that! Thanks for the feedback.

Ektar is, in fact, the replacement for Kodak's older pro film. Like i said, it's wonderful, but finicky. If your lighting is even slightly off daylight, it's gonna skew to blue or yellow.

I dont know much about slide film: I dont shoot it.

I'll definitely get some then, I've been after Kodak Professional for a while but suspected it was discontinued.
