Default Vanguard Alta Pro 264AT Tripod worth it or not?

Hello everyone. I am a young man looking to improve my photography. Landscape photography is becoming more and more appealing to me as I continue to shoot. My current tripod is relatively worthless and has a problem with the head where when leveled still is on an angle. I'm certain it is not meant for any sort of serious or semi-serious photography.
Just today I visited a local photography store where a knowledge woman told me to look at the Alta 264 tripod (with ball head SBH 100). Unfortunately, she did not have any of the model in, and plans to have some by tomorrow or next Monday at the latest. She demonstrated a similar models use to me, since I had never had experience with a good tripod beyond one with a pistol grip that I used for a day.
I was shocked when I found how cheap this deal was. I had been reading around in many places, and as I believe it's been said here before 'if it's less than 800 (USD) you're being cheated'. According to her, Gitzo was overrated and its main functions could be found in other cheap tripods.
This particular tripod kit sells for about 225 USD if I am not mistaken.
Am I being cheated? Is this worth it? I take my work very seriously, and I don't want to purchase this now only to have to replace it in a few years.

I own a Canon EOS 7D, with a grip on it, so it's relatively heavy. My hands are quite a bit shaky, but I do own a RC-6 remote, so that can be negated for the most part. Of the three "light, rigid and cheap" I would prefer rigid and cheap. I'm decently strong and don't do too much hiking, (it's mostly driving in the car, etc.) As I previously stated, I am really enjoying landscape photography, but I am trying not to corner myself into any one particular field yet. I also highly enjoy night/(slow shutter speed and or star) photography. I do not plan on using the camera for video purposes.

If you think this tripod is a 'no-go' do you have any recommendations based on what I have written above? Is there any other information I can add?
All of your comments are greatly appreciated and welcomed.
