For a Nikon D3000. I would like to ask what lens would be more useful for portraits (and more)? Is the prime or the telephoto? Both are on the same price range and no autofocus isn't a big deal for me
Thanks.

Dont get the 70-300mm non-VR.
Look into the AF-S 35mm 1.8 or AF-S 50mm 1.8G. I prefer 50mm length (and even 85mm), but others prefer 35mm on a crop body (DX). You wont be able to autofocus the 70-300mm non VR or the 50mm 1.8D on your D3000. Manually focusing everything is not worth it.
