Default monopod advice

I'm off to singapore next wk and am desperate to get some good night photos. can anyone tell me if i would benefit by using a monopod? as its unrealistic to take my tripod. or should i increase my ISO etc or use natural surroundings to steady the camera.
thanks

Tripods better than Monopod, Monopod's better than nothing. While it won't give you perfect stability, it'll be a lot more forgiving on night shots than hand-held

That being said, depending on your lens and the amount of light around you, you're probably going to still have to increase your ISO. Good noise reduction software works wonders though

I've got a trekpod that's better than no tripod at all... just barely. Nothing close to a substitute for a proper tripod, but it's a little better than a monopod. And yes, a monopod would be better than nothing at all. Don't forget that you can also use standnig structures to steady your shot sometimes, too (fences, buildings, etc.).
