Default Threadless light stand help

I just got this from china... I ordered in a hurry and didn't look if there was a thread...anybody knows what to do with that? converter? I've searched but found nothing.

This is what you need.

Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe 9101880 B&H Photo

That way you can use strobes, speedlights, and an umbrella.

I've got over a dozen light stands, and they all have the 1/4 x 20 threaded end, but I've never used it for anything.

What would be the point of putting a ballhead on a light stand? Unless you planned to use it as a tripod.
