Default HELP! Nikon to canon adapter, Lens and rear element contacting?

Hi, I am purchasing a t2i as my first body. But since I don't have much money to spare, I thought it would be cheaper to go with an older nikon 50mm lens, rather than the plastic canon 50mm.

However, something that concerns me is there is some talk about the mirror possibly hitting the rear element on some nikon lenses, damaging both very badly in the process. I was hoping if someone could provide some insight on this and whether or not this might happen with the equipment I plan to buy

The body will be a t2i.
This is the adapter Amazon.com: Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter, Nikon Lens to Canon EOS Camera Adapter, for Canon EOS 1d,1ds,Mark II, III, IV, 5D, Mark II, 7D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 60D, Digital Rebel xt, xti, xs, xsi, t1i, t2i, 300D, 350D, 400D, 450D, 500D, 550D, 1000D
and the lens is a Nikon 50mm F/1.8 E Pancake lens, I believe this is a picture of it but correct me if I'm wrong. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/ima...N_5166-460.jpg

I would really appreciate the insight, thank you very much!

Just buy the $100 canon 50mm f/1.8 that will autofocus on your camera, or buy one for less on craigslist/ebay. After messing with the pankcake/adapter, how much will you save? $30?

That pancake isnt exactly nikon's proudest moment.
