Default Tripod recommendations ..

Looking for a good (not to expensive) tripod..I just bought the Precision tripod but its a complete piece of crap and I don't feel comfortable mounting my camera to it.

Five of the best tripods for under $450: Digital Photography Review
"article". It's a paragraph form listing of specs and press blurbs from the manufacturers.

I snagged a Slik 740D for $75, but realistically you ought to be willing to spend around $120-$200 for a decent quality tripod. You're paying for more stable materials, a better head (3-way pan tilt vs ball), integrated levels, etc.

I had a cheap optrex I got for $40... hated it. Tightening the head in place made my camera stop being level, the panorama lock also was how the centre column raised lowered (which made uneven shots as it panned) and the legs were really flimsy.
