Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 ai
Just bought this lens for only $56.60 http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/50f14ai.htm
according to these comparisons it out performs the newer Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AF-D and is comparable to the Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 ZF @ f/2 as far as spherical aberration. See for your self: Nikon 50mm Lens Comparison scroll down to see the comparison. oh yeah, and it came with a 50mm lens hood.

The AF-D version is a cheaply made, mostly plastic chinese abomination.. I still use the AF-D version more than the AI.. No real reason, I have tons of MF lenses and love them but for some reason it seems like every time I grab my D700 it has the crummy AF-D lens on it. $56 is a decent bargain for ANYTHING of the quality of the old MF 1.4 lenses. You're gonna love that lens.

Yeah that test on ken rockwell shows the ai at the same quality of the zeiss... amazing for $56!
