Hi,

I can't guide you to a good tripod head however I noticed your intention to buy an EF-S 10-22mm Lens and then upgrade your body to a 5D Mark ii within a year. Be aware that the 10-22mm is NOT compatible with the 5D, it is designed for a crop sensor body like your 550D. If you aren't planning on keeping the 550D then you would be better served buying a wide angle to suit a full frame body.

As a rule a lens described as EF-S will not work on a full frame system.

They make heads that more or less specialize for ech of the activities you want to photograph... so in essence you want a good general purpose head. Look at a 3 way pan head, a ball head or even a quickgrip head. All would work great, it's just a matter of your preference in the operational controls.

Hi bigrobo89,
thanks for your reply. i noticed i missed to mention that 10-22mm as EF-S10-22mm.
yes i knew above mentioned lens is not compatible with full frame camera bodies. i will never sell my 550D, because its my first own digital SLR. etc..etc..sentiments....

zona5101,
thanks friend, i knew every manufacturer have dedicated model of heads to every need. have checked out the links which you shared. i have seen same model of heads from manfrotto. i like that threeway head much.

thanks n take care,

hi friends,

as i said earlier tomorrow im going to get Manfrotto 055X ProB,

http://www.manfrotto.com/product/837...od_%28Black%29

but the confusion is about heads, following links for what i like.....definitely don't know how to pick the best...

http://www.manfrotto.com/product/837...Connect_System

Manfrotto Hydrostatic Ball Head with RC0 Rapid Connect System - hydrostatic

Manfrotto Heavy Duty Grip Ball Head - Heads

Manfrotto Standard 3-Way Head - Three Way
standard 3way heads looks huge and make me scary...

following links for some panoramic heads(within this year i will get one of this panoramic head),

http://www.manfrotto.com/product/837...Panoramic_Head

Manfrotto Multi-row Panoramic Head - panoramic

can i use these heads with Manfrotto 055X ProB Tripod? you know why im asking this...because of the quick horizontal setup column, i doubt this center support will have some movement once i fix entire camera+lens(eg: 550d+grip+10-22mm)...

I have the similar tripod but from benro and i found the 3 way pan head hard to use with the arm out for maro work. I now have the Manfrotto Heavy Duty Grip Ball Head and it is bliss. I would see if you can try a couple in store, some heads will have trouble holding your future set up portraite style.

Cheers Jo
