I have a Tamron 75-300mm f4~5.6 that I use on a Canon 350D and a Canon 60D. The lens seems to work fine, until I zoom above the 200mm mark. Above 200mm, the lens/camera throws a ERR 99 on the 350D and (I believe) and ERROR 01 on the 60D. Essentially, it's the same error -- and tells me to clean the contacts on the lens and camera. I've cleaned both, but still get the error.
Does anyone have any other DIY ideas before I send the lens off for repair? THANKS!

Do you get the errors any other times? particularly when you try to use different apertures?
Because 3rd party lens makers reverse-engineer the electronics, sometimes some lenses (especially older ones) don't work on some camera bodies. I had a Vivitar 28-70 f/2.8 that wouldn't shoot anything but wide open, and had glacial autofocus speed, because it just wasn't compatible with newer cameras. Sometimes the maker will "re-chip" the lens, but I doubt it's worth it. If that's the problem. |
