Canon 100mm L or non L?

I'm sure this is already talked about somewhere, but I'm super indecisive and need help on this purchase. I'm deciding between a 100mmL and the non L lenses. I shoot primarily weddings and people, and the main purpose is to get some killer ring shots. Beyond that, I don't think I need it for anything else. (my current price range for weddings is around $3K .. so it's not a high-end clientele if that makes a difference)

I have the L and love it. Maybe my favorite portrait lens. But if you're getting it just for ring shots, then I wouldn't bother with the L. Hell, I might not even bother with a Canon lens. Save the money by going third party since it will be more of a gimmick lens for your use.

Given that working distance probably isn't an issue, you could, if you're shooting crop, also go with the EF-S 60 f/2.8 USM Macro. It's a leetle sharper than the non-L 100 and quite a bit smaller. Have also heard good things about the Tamron 90/2.8 macro.
