Default Polarizing Filters, What do you recommend?

Hello everybody,

I'm looking into investing in a decent polarizing filter. Decent meaning, not a cheap ebay one for $10 bucks that comes with all kinds of problems, but not one that costs well over $100 either. I just do photography as a hobby, so none of this gear pays for itself lol. I hear a lot of people talking about Hoya, what brand would you recommend?

I've read reviews by a few people that say they use their filter for almost every shot, whether it's landscape or just random shoot on-the-go photography. What's your outlook on the proper time for using a Polarizing Filter?

I try to do a little homework on any gear before I buy it, so I'm just looking for some personal experiences to see what I should get. I appreciate any replies I receive. Thanks in advance to everyone!

Hi! I recently bought a 72mm Hoya Pro1 Digital Circular PL. It cost £53. Obviously I am in the UK but I am sure you can get a similar one over your side of the pond.

Also, check out my thread here you some extra tips:

Default CPL and DSLR focusing

Does CPL affect the focusing of a DSLR?

I do have a Vivitar CPL attached to my 55-250mm IS Canon lens, when I focus with it the image taken is a bit blurred than without the CPL? I know there is no problem with the lens because I just had it serviced.

But when I use it with my 18-55mm there is no focus problem.

Please advice.

Thanks
