Default Advice for upcoming trip

Next week I'm taking my first-ever trip to Seattle, and I'm debating which camera/lens to take with me. I don't want to be weighed down with huge zoom lenses or anything, but I do want to come away with some good images.

So here's my choices. I have my Canon Rebel T1i, with my lens choices that I'd be willing to take being a 50mm 1.8 or a 55-250mm IS 4-5.6.

OR

I could take my old Canon S5 IS which comes with the incredible zoom range and all that, but no option for RAW of course.

Any advice?? I just can't seem to make up my mind on this...and don't want to get all the way there and then regret my decision.

I used the S5 a few years ago on a San Fran trip, and it did a pretty good job of capturing the adventure...so that's why I'm leaning towards dusting it off and using it again. But then again, the Rebel takes such better images. See...just can't decide!

Default well...

Well personally, whenever I don't bring the best camera and lenses I have available along with me, I always regret it. Thats why I am always carrying around a 50 pound backpack. I even bring my tripod everywhere just in case. So if I were you, it would be the rebel with the 55-250mm. It gives you the best photos (with the RAW option) and the most versatility of lens.

But thats just me... Have a great trip!

if you also have the kit lens that comes with the T1i, birng that along with the 55-250. unless you intend to be taking pictures of people often, there isnt any reason to bring the 50mm around, and i speak from experience of bringing it along on several trips. you'd really like the longer reach offered to you by the zoom lenses, so you'd be ready in any situation.

the only pro i can see for bringing the nifty fifty, would be great performance in low light.

Thanks for the advice! I decided today to take the Rebel and the 55-250 zoom. I am the same way about taking my best camera...the times I've left it at home I've wound up regretting it. So no way this time. I may just bring the nifty fifty in case of nighttime image options...but still on the fence about that.

Thank you both for your help!!!
