Default wedding lens...24-70mm or??

I rented a 24-70mm lens to do my last wedding because I was planning to purchase one. Other than the fact that it killed my arm (gonna have to get used to that, I know!), I was fairly happy with it's performance. I had my 50mm 1.4 on my second body but didn't find the need to use it. I have another wedding coming up at the end of the month and I'm looking for suggestions for a different lens to rent...any thoughts? What is your favorite event lens??

70-200/2.8 is another good candidate. It really depends on the venue though.

ouch, she thought that lil 24-70 was heavy best portrait lens hands down though. kinda sucky in a small room on a crop sensor though

i'd say the 24-105 IS F4L it performs almost as good as the 24-70 in low light, can push the same apperant boka with the longer focal length and has more reach. On a crop sensor it should do well with portraits and wide. Pretty versatile lens if you understand what it can do, and how to do it.

That's kinda what I was thinking! I recently upgraded to a 7D and I'm used to my prime lenses so 8 hours with the 24-70 was new for me!

That looks like a good choice...thanks! I would like to try the 70-200 sometime but this wedding is in a very small chapel and reception hall so that won't work this time. Maybe I'll try a wide prime as well...
