Default Ownuser grip for Nikon D5000 Issues

Has anyone had issues using non-Nikon batteries in the Ownuser grip?

I have 2 generic batteries and 1 Nikon battery and here's what I'm experiencing:

- all batteries fully charged & work in camera (ie. without grip)
- use batteries in grip (any combination of the 3), camera will not turn on. I have to mention here that it did work, the very first time, and now it doesn't.
- take batteries out of grip and try again in camera; Nikon battery works, generic ones all of a sudden do not.
- put generic batteries in charger and within 2 minutes it says they are fully charged.
- try generic batteries in camera again, and they work.
- rinse and repeat ...

WEIRD!

Needless to say I have ordered another Nikon brand battery, as I'm guessing it has something to do with the generic ones. the only difference I can see on the batteries is the generic ones say 7.4V and the Nikon is 7.2V.

I have been using the generic batteries in my camera, prior to getting the grip, for about 8 months with no issues.

Just curious if anyone else has had this issue.

The grip may simply not be liking the generics. There's a reason I buy only OEM.

I'd probably stop mixing batteries with different voltages.
