Which polarizing filter do you recommend?
I'm taking my Tamron 28-300 lens on holiday and need a polarizing filter with a diameter of 72mm. Question: Is Hoya a reasonable brand? What is the difference (apart from the price)? What does PL mean?

PL just means "polarizer". CPL is short form for a circular one.
In your list, Item 1 is coated differently/better.

You can also check out Kenko brand. Both Hoya and Kenko are manufactured by Tokina from Japan, and the only difference is that the Kenko brand is for Japanese market and Hoya is for export. They're supposedly same in quality. Kenko is usually a bit cheaper. I've got a 77mm Kenko and I'm happy so far.
