All my lens have Hoya Pro1 filter. I hear many good things about B+W

Cool, I just bought the B+W 77mm UVA (Ultra Violet) Haze MRC Filter #010 from amazon. Hope the quality is better than the Hoya Pro1.

What is the major difference between the cheaper filter like Hoya, and Tiffen from B+W or Heliopan?

Quality of the coatings, mainly. Better colour rendition, shift, neutrality.

Actually, I would have said build quality.

I went by this: UV filters test - Introduction - Lenstip.com

I get Hoyas HMCs.

Not if you like good build quality. Also, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the rankings--a lot of those numbers are arbitrary judgements, if you look closer at the test methodology. But the fact that the Hoya UV performance is that good was a big surprise.
