Default Which lens?

Hi guys,

I am using a Nikon D3000, most of the time i am taking landscape photos.

So which lens is more suitable to me? AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G or AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G.

Or there is other better options?

Thanks.
Max

Neither is particularly suited to landscape work, but both can work very well for it.

Generally speaking a landscape photographer uses a wide angle lens, which on your camera is anything with a focal length below 24, though most would suggest below 20. For instance, I use a 10-24mm lens.

With a 35 or 50mm lens, though, you can still take landscape shots: you just get very very different rendering of the scene. You can always try stitching panoramas, which can be VERY good, especially if you plan on printing very large, as you can get very very high resolution files

stitching panoramas is taking multiple images of a landscape / area and joining them together to create a larger image. So one large photo is the sum of all the pictures you took.

An example of stitching:

That's approximately 6-8 separate photos pieced together from a single point. The final image is 9558x3423 pixels. Printed at MAXIMUM quality, that's almost 32" x 11.5". I could probably stretch it out to 96" x 35" if need be.
