I was wondering if any of you could help me with one particular topic - Filters.
What are they, do i need them, Why do i need them, what are the best types ( UV,ect) to get and why., how do they work and How and when should i use them. There seems to be an inexhaustible amount out there. |

Have a look at this site.
CAMERA FILTERS Do you need them? Depends on what and where you may be shooting.

I would start out with a circular polarizer. Everyone uses those at one time or another. Skip the UV filter and use a lens cap or lens hood instead. After that, you can think about neutral density or graduated neutral density filters.
Also, you get what you pay for. The best polarizers are the B+W multi-coated ones that run about $100. Hoyas are cheaper and still pretty good.
