Default iMac vs. Macbook Pro

I'm planning to upgrade to a Mac within the next month or so but I don't know which one to get. I love the idea of the larger screen of an iMac but also love the convenience and portability of a Macbook. This will be the computer I do all of my editing on as well as just my 'surf the net' computer (my hubby has his own laptop already).

I'd appreciate some feedback from people who use these computers and if you can tell me what it is you love about your choice and what feature it was that sold you on that model, that would be helpful as well.

And yes, I am decided on getting a Mac - for those of you out there who would suggest I just upgrade to a difference PC.

I have both, partially for that reason. However, one thing to consider (though this wasn't a possibility for me at the time for other reasons), is to add a larger external display to your MBP when you're at home. I'd have to say, pick based on how you want to use it. If you want to carry it around, go for the laptop, if not, go for the desktop. I personally don't think you can go wrong either way and either will run LR fine.

I would say get the MBP but get Aperture 3.0 for post processing. I have used it for awhile and like it better than Photoshop.

I have a pc and mac. I use my PC to do photo editing.

If I were to buy a Mac for editing then I probably buy a imac 27", its better for photo editing. If an mac book then I get the macbook pro 15" i7, and a separate monitor for editing. Trust me having a big monitor for editing is alot better than any lcd on a macbook pro.
