Default Pocket Wizards and 580EXII

I'm wanting to get a set of radio triggers so I can have ETTL an HSS off camera. But I've read that the Pocket Wizards have interference issuse with the 580's. Does anyone have any experience with this combo? Or can you recommend an alternative?

I don't know about the PW.
For an alternative to PWs for ettl control you can look at the Radiopopper PX system

Now am I understanding this correctly? The Poppers only work with a commander unit or your cameras built in IR? I have a Canon 450D and I don't think it has bult in IR, and I only have the one 580 which is what I want to fire off camera. So I don't think these will work for me, is that correct or am I misunderstanding something?

No, that's correct. If you want to avoid purchasing a master/commander unit, then the PocketWizard TTLs are your only way to go. BTW, a 550EX, 580EX or ST-E2 can also be used as a master unit. Maybe (possibly) even the Youngnuo clone of the ST-E2.

I've never used a PocketWizard, but I read there is a sleeve (AC7) you can purchase to wrap around your 580EX that should help with the radio interference. Not cheap, though.

Yeah I knew that but I don't wanna spend that kinda money on triggers and still hafta buy another flash or trigger just to make em work. Thanks for the lead on the sleeve, I'll look into that.

Ok I looked at that sleeve and it's a price I'd be willing to pay. Now I have another question. If I have my 580EXII controlled by a PW will I be able to use it as an OC commander to trigger another ETTL flash? That way I don't have to buy a receiver for each of my flashes.
