Could anyone suggest a moderately priced flash trigger for a sb600?
Ive seen the RF 602 system but am wary of cheap chinese alternatives. Thanks in advance

I just picked up two sets of these after some suggestions in the lighting forum. People say they are awesome. I have not had a chance to use them yet, as they are in the mainland and I am in Japan, but soon. Only $60 for a set, so if they dont work its a relatively cheap lesson learned.

I believe I ordered them on sunday evening and they were in my hands by friday morning. Of course, your delivery may not be as quick given the uproar in Asia, but still, I was impressed with how quickly they arrived. I think there are a couple of locatios in the US that stock them too. They're usually $10 more expensive as I recall, but maybe it's worth the peace of mind to you to use them. |

would these be a better buy than a wired trigger? , like I have a Nikon and want to take the SB-600 of camera like the original poster , wired or unwired?
you lose ttl with some of these devices? was thinking of getting this Nikon 4765 SC-28 TTL 9-ft. Remote Cord $50

The Cactus V5s and Yongnuo RF-603s are probably the ones you want to look at when it comes to moderately priced radio triggers. The V5s seem to have the edge this generation around, since they have the locking foot (more important if you're mounting a flash on top on the pass-through hotshoe). Both units are pretty similar now: transceivers, 2.4GHz, AAA batteries, with passthrough hotshoes and non-proprietary synch and shutter connections. Much nicer than the V4s or 602s. And both are not compatible with previous systems ::eyeroll::.
If you want to step-up in reliability, then Cybersyncs, RadioPopper Jrs., with PocketWizard Plus IIs as the top of the heap. Yes, a TTL cord will let you keep TTL functionality, while these low-cost radio triggers won't. You could also use CLS (on Nikons) or eTTL infrared signalling on Canons to get TTL and HSS, but you'll be limited on line-of-sight and range outside. If you want TTL over radio, then RadioPopper Px and TTL PocketWizards are the really-expensive solutions. No idea of how the Pixel Knights perform, but I'm not sure it's necessarily worth it. BTW, if you want to avoid the accidental firing when you put the RF-602 onto the flash foot, just turn the flash off, first. Turn on the RF-602, then put it on the foot, then turn the flash on. (I get caught out by this time. Why the hell Yongnuo doesn't move that freaking on/off switch to where you can reach it when it's on the hotshoe, I don't know). Obviously, when you slide the trigger onto the foot, you're going to make contact/a short, and send the sync signal to fire. Doesn't seem to do any harm, though.
