Nice review, Jay. That looks like a fantastic lens. There were a couple of images in the review that popped out at me -- "Chubs Christmas Time" and "Sadie Christmas Time". Do you know why you got a completely rounded bokeh in the first and the octagonal bokeh in the second?

I took some shots of my sister's new puppy last Christmas using a 30D and 50mm f/1.8 lens - you can see one of them here. At the time, I'd chalked the five-sided bokeh up to the five-bladed design of the lens itself, but I can see this effect in Sadie's photo, too (though with eight blades, obviously). Is this just due to the lens being stopped down to f/3.2 in that shot?

You figured it out Wide open it will appear round, stop it down and the blade # becomes apparent with the shape it creates. Thank you very much for the comments and kind words!!

The colors are pretty strong right off the camera, but I think that has a lot to do with the 5D Mark II as well. The edited photos I jazzed up a bit of course

Best,
Jay
