Free time lapse software for Mark 5d II

Decided I wanted to start trying a new project and time lapse photography/movies is what I settled on. After researching around I came across granite bay software to take the pictures, and quick time pro to make them into a movie. The problem is the software from granite bay is going to expire in a few days so Im looking for a free alternative. Anyone got a free piece of software that will act as my intervalometer from my laptop to my canon mark 5d II?
