Having just jumped ship with Sony, I'm finding I'm all at sea with the plethora of Nikon mount lenses, both new and second hand.
There is a website, Dyxxum.com that caters for Alpha mount lenses, it holds some good, fairly independant, user reviews, and I was fairly sure that I had invested in the best glass I could afford.. Now I have no idea with the Nikon mounts. Is there anywhere I can look that will give me a similar quality of information in one place, or is Google the main resource for information like that?

Ken Rockwell's site has a ton of info and lens reviews for Nikon, and Photo.net as well. Might be a good place to start.

That's where I get most of my "Old obscure lenses" info.

User reviews, I'd go to Fred Miranda (current lenses only, though)
FM Reviews - Thom Hogan before Ken Rockwell, for my tastes. (Rockwell's an eccentric.) Nikon Digital Camera and Photography Articles by Thom Hogan And nikonians.org and Ken Rockwell have good charts on body/lens compatibility. Nikon SLR Camera & Lens Compatibility Chart Nikon Lens Compatibility Rockwell's also got a good walkthrough of the F-mount's history of evolution: Nikkor Lens Technology

This photosynthesis site has quite a bit of detailed technical and specification-type information.
I used it quite a bit when my father in law gave me some older Nikon lenses. The site helped me figure our just what those lenses actually were. No reviews on there, though. |
