Default sports photography

I am new to the DSLR world, for Christmas I got a nikon 3000 came with a 18 to 55 lens, I have also got a 55 to 200 lens.

I love taking pictures of my kids playing sports both outdoors and indoors.

Any suggstions on how to take great shots? Lens/fliters needed?

Anything really it is almost time for lacrosse/baseball/softball seasons and I don't want to miss a great shot because I don't know how to use my camera.

My kids also play indoor soccer at a place where no matter what I can't get a good shot, it is a big space, white and glass walls and it has flourscent lights and the pictures I take are just bad, I can edit them and make them look okay BUT you know I would LOVE to figure out how to take good pictures and not spend a lot of time eiting them to look like good pictures.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Eileen

I would start by purchasing a lens with at least a constant 2.8 aperture or larger (smaller f#). it will make a world of difference compared to your kit lenses. But, aside from a 50mm lens they are pretty much all going to be in the $600.00 - $2500.00+ range.

unless you are able to shoot in very well lit conditions all the time these FAST lenses will be your best bet at better sports images.
