Lens Compare
Hi I am VERY new to this site and have a quick question. I have the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 on my wish list but the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 is more within my budget right now. I've never used a Tamron lens. Is this one pretty good (I see it's rated well on Amazon but I would like advice from DPS readers)? Thanks in advance.

If you can afford the Canon then get the Canon. I have a few Tamron lens. They perform great but my Canon lens perform better. My wife shoots with the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8. She loves it. The only lens I have that performs just as great as far as IQ is concerned is my Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8.

I only shoot with Canon lenses. I have the Canon 24-70 and it is an incredible lens. I can't say much about 3rd party lenses from personal experience, but I have heard that 3rd party such as Tamron can be very good, especially for the price, but you either get a great lens or a bad one.
