Hi everyone
I was looking into fisheye lenses and i found this manual prime (a Belomo Peleng 8mm f3.5) Amazon.com: Belomo MS Peleng 3.5/8mm Fisheye Lens for Canon EOS Cameras, New: Camera & Photo But i have a couple of questions before i order it, and maybe some of you who have had experiences with other manual lenses before could help me. And what really worries me is if i loose the ettl with this lens?? (my body is a canon 450d/xsi and my flash is an ex430ii) |

Just me, but I'd also look at the Samyang 8mm fisheye vs. the Peleng. The Peleng is designed as a circular for full-frame, and on a crop body, you'll get dark corners. The Samyang is designed as a diagonal for crop, so the image fills the entire frame. It's also probably a little cheaper as well as being sharper with better flare resistance. Samyang is a Korean company that manufactures for generic branding, so this fisheye can also be found in Rokinon/Opteka/Bower/Vivitar/Phoenix, etc. etc. versions. They're all the same lens, though. Here's the Amazon listing for the Rokinon version:
Amazon.com: Rokinon FE8M-C 8mm F3.5 Fisheye Lens for Canon (Black): Camera & Photo And a review: Samyang 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye - Review / Test Report I've used manual focus lenses (both chipped and non-chipped) with eTTL and not had much problem. The zoom will default to 50mm, but it knows enough to know that there isn't going to be any distance information coming from the lens.
