Default Canon 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6

I know it's a kit lens, however I'm interested in what others who have used this lens think of it. It seems like it has a good focal range and I would probably use it as a walk-around lens.

The other lens I'm looking at is the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD so if anyone has had experience with either, your feedback would be appreciated.

I shoot with a Canon 7D.

Thanks!

Sorry, no firsthand experience, but a friend has the Tamron 17-50, and he loves it. Sharp & fast.

I just bought the Canon lens for my Rebel T1i. So far I like it. The pictures are nice and crisp, and it focuses fast. I wasn't sure I would be able to tell the difference between this lens and the kit lenses, but I can. The range is handy since I don't tend to do wide angle.

thanks for the response!

I have the kit lens that came with the Canon XSi (18-55mm and 70-250mm) but would like to get one that is in between and is a little better quality and a friend is selling his to get some cash.

I know to get a faster lens I have to go to a f/2.8 but I just spent alot on the 7D, and sometime soon will probably try to pick up the Tamron 17-50mm

Can anyone speak to a comparison between the Canon 15-85mm vs. 28-135mm as far as quality, sharpness, etc.?
