I want to choose and buy a working computer for semi-professional wedding photography and other semi-professional photography. Could you please advice me on this? What about Dell Studio XPS 9000? Dell claims that it is a great standalone multimedia system without monitor comes with Core i7 processor! Intel® Core™ i7-920 Processor (2.66GHz, 8MB) Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit (English) 4GB (2X2GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz Memory 500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive with Native Command Queuing 1024MB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT220 No Monitor included but I will be able to use my 5 month old 23” LCD Samsung Monitor. Both can be just as good. Do you have any experience with either windows or mac? Have you done a comparison of the available software and pros/cons of each system?
Both can run the full array of Adobe software which is the most common software but there are extras that only run on one or the other. Other than that the PC is a lot more powerful for your money but Macs have traditionally had much better and more accurate monitors and the colour management is usually much simpler and better. You would have to look for information on the particular mac you are looking at. Sorry for the vagueness but both are capable machines.
