If you want to buy it, why are you asking our input?

It's an amazing lens, as it should be. What more do you need to know?

I swapped my MkI for the MkII several months ago and can maybe give my opinions.

The advantages I see are improved corner sharpness on APS-H and full frame bodies and better performance with a 2x Extender....something the MkI was very poor with. It's also safe to say that the MkII is better wide open than the MkI and the IS has improved.

On an APS-C body, I think you're only worthwhile advantage will be the improved performance with a 2X (if you intend to get one)....I don't have an APS-C body to compare with, sorry.

All I know is that it's expensive if you are talking about the "L" lens. At Amazon it's $2399 for the F2.8 L as compared to $1199 for the F4.0 L version. If you really need the one f-stop or just don't care about the cost, then that's the way to go, I guess. The F2.8 is also quite a bit heavier. I'm going to get the 70-200 mm F4.0 L IS USM here in the next month.

I don't really need the extra aperture, as that is most only useful for sports or fast action in low light. I don't think that one f-stop is worth $1200 unless you specialize in that.
