Default step ring

Sorry for the simple questions lately.....I have an old circular polariser with a 55mm thread and my new cam will have a 67mm thread when the lens adapter arrives.....I've seen step up and step down rings but which one do I need?
thanks

You'd need a step down ring, but I would definitely recommend AGAINST it. Going form a 67mm lens to a 55mm filter is a HUGE difference. Just get a new polarizer in 77mm size and get a step UP filter instead.

thanks again...
sounds like good advice and I assume using the 55mm polarizer might cause vignetting

Vignetting isnt that half of it. It'd flat-out block much of the image.

Cheers all. I've took your advice and ordered the right size polarizer for my lens thread
