Default Photo Editing Software

I'm new to photography and would like some suggestions for photo editing software. I'd like something that's user friendly or at least has a lot of tips within the program. Any input would be helpful. Thank you!

If Photoshop is out of your range, Photoshop Elements is a great value too.

I would suggest Photo Elements v9 as well. Photoshop is way too expensive for the average person and takes awhile to learn, I have version CS3 and it does everything but also is not user friendly. I like PhotoImpact.x13 or PSP X3, They are under $100 and good to start with as well. I have lightroom v3 which is around $300 and personally I think it is overpriced.
Unless you are going professional the expensive software may be nice but a bit much for a hobbyist.

Thank you very much for your input. I just wish there was a site like netflix for computer software. That way we could try it out before spending all that money.

Hmmm.....anyone want to go into business? hahaha.

Thanks again!

Actually, you can try Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom for free for a one month trial.

Go here and click on one to try.
