Default What order you you mount your filters and hood?

I have broken into my bag 'o filters and began experimenting with the filters I inherited from my uncle. I have a haze filter, a polarizing filter, UV filters (I keep one on the lens at all times to protect the lens...and have had the misfortune to break one while on the lens..better it than the lens). I also have a bunch of other lens filters used primarily for bw photography that I do not forsee using in the near future.

So my question is this...what order do you mount filters on the lens, or does it matter?

Right now I have a UV filter and the polarizing filter on the lens along with the lens hood, which mounted betweed the UV and polarizing filters. (The UV filter is on the lens).

Also, is a haze filter a redundancy if I am using a UV filter, or can I add that to the mix I have on the lens?

TIA,
Anne

I use a UV filter to protect the lens, but it usually comes off when I start shooting something. I will add a CP, during bright daylight to add a little drama to the sky. I don't stack the filters on, because I have had too many problems with light bouncing around between all the layers of glass and I am convinced the IQ is degraded.

Also keep in mind, the more filters you stack, the greater the vignette you may get, because your lens is getting the edges of your stacked filters.

I typically only do one filter at a time, but I'm boring & only have 2 CPs (one for each lens I keep in my bag), and 1 generic ND filter (that I haven't had a chance to use yet, cus my tripod never makes it out with me).
