So I ordered a Manfrotto 680B monopod and just got it in the mail yesterday. It appears I need a head for it since the screw is too large to fit my Canon XSi. Do all the heads have the proper screw size or do they vary depending on which head you order?

The screw that's on it now is a 3/8". A standard tripod screw is 1/4". All tripod heads MOUNT TO a 3/8" and all tripod heads have an attachment to the camera of 1/4". That's standard
Any head will do

It's a dual coaxial 1/4" - 3/8" camera fixing screw.
Just use the camera/lens base to depress the outer screw when attaching the camera or lens, if need be. You don't necessarily need a head (I don't use one) I own Manffrotto 679 & 681 mono pods and the have the same screw.

There's a spring-loaded collar thingie on the bolt, so it can fit either size thread. I've attached a QR plate, tripod ring, my camera body, a pano head, a flash bracket stud, and a ball head all directly to the bolt without needing any adapters. The majority of these were 1/4".

Why did you buy a "Dumb Monopod"? or What are you doing talking to your monopod, Did you expect it to talk back? LOL
Sorry I just had to say that. It struck me as funny when I saw the thread heading.
