Hi all!
Are Extension tubes useable with Nikon G lenses? The problem with these lenses is that they don't have an aperture ring... :/ Is it possible to bypass this problem by setting the lens to the lowest aperture when it is on the camera and then mount it on the extension tube? Thank you for your answers!

some are, you have to get ones with the electronics inbuilt - you can use the kenko tubes with the nikon g lenses. Nikon needs to produce modern tubes, the only available Nikon tubes will not give you aperture control.

As soon as you remove the lens, it goes back to fully closed down.

Thanks for the answers to both! I googled around a little and came accross the Nikon and Kenko tubes. So I guess it will have to be Kenko because I have a G lens.
They are quite expensive I saw on ebay they come in sets of 3 for approx 150 USD ![]() How can I calculate what my effective focal length will be depending on the amount of extension? If I can get hold of only the extension tube I would like to have? I have the kit 18-105mm VR lens. Thanks!

Your focal length doesnt change: only magnification.

I looked it up on the net! Looked like a lot of math at first but it made sense in the end thanks!
