I just bought a Nikon a 50mm AF-D F 1.4 (not the Gelded).
The first thing that I noticed right out of the box is that it has a little bit of play on the focus barrel. And if I shake it I feel something moving inside of it. Not as if it were something completely loose, just... something moving... a soft click* click* if i shake it gently. The lens works fine as I'm concerned, focus is spot on, the focus ring feels smooth and great. So what do you think??? Is my lens defective or this is just normal. (I know that PRO lenses are built tougher but I don't consider this one to be a PRO lens).

That's normal. Primes are very simple and the focus helicoids are metal, so they have more mass. That's just them moving about a bit. As long as its not a millimeter or more, I wouldnt worry, and even then as long as it AFs quickly and accurately...
