Default Filters for panasonic lx3

I'm thinking of getting myself some filters for the panasonic dmc-lx3, the official panasonic polariser filter for this camera has a designation of LPL which I assume means a linear polariser as opposed to a circular one.

However I've also read in several places that circular polarisers are preferable because they allow metering and autofocus to keep working. So the question is should I be going for a linear or a circular polariser for my camera?

I think you'll be fine with the Panasonic one; Amazon reviews are basically saying it doesn't keep the autofocus from working. The CLP/LPL thing is for dSLRs not so much digicams. And given the filter size, you're highly unlikely to be sharing it with a dSLR. Obviously, your adapter ring will let you use any 46mm filter; so you don't have to get the Panasonic-branded one.

Thanks Inkista, I didn't even think about reading the amazon reviews - I'll know better for next time :-)
