I mainly want to know what gloves you use to stay warm when shooting outside in the winter. I get cold very easily, and especially when I wear traditional gloves. The gloves that keep my hands the warmest are lobster claw gloves, but they aren't great for using the camera. Also, warmer gloves tend to be bulker which makes using the camera much more difficult.
I'd like to know what gloves you have found to keep you warm while still giving you the dexterity and grip you need to operate the camera, change lenses, etc. |

I wear layered cross country ski gear and knitted, half finger, convertible gloves that have a little mitten hood, Kevin. Just bought some very light cashmere ones that allow for great finger movement. Many discount shops, including Target carry these at reasonable prices.
I prefer a light wool such as cashmere, angora or llama, since these allow for finger movement. Wool stays warm even when wet. Google “convertible mittens” Also have chemical hand warmers in my pockets and have a serious pair of winter sports gloves snapped to my jacket. Another thing is a warm hat since about 20-30% of heat loss is from the head. The lower the temps the more heat loss from the head. Up to about 35%. |
