Default Buying a camera backpack

Does anyone have any general recommendations? I'm getting tired of always having to dig my camera and gear out of my regular daypack. I decided that I have 3 requirements for a camera day/backpack; 1) Has to have a sternum strap; 2) Must have a holder large enough for a real tripod, not a mini one; 3) Must have room for food, water, jacket, etc. I don't like the ones that are meant to only hold camera gear because of reason #3.

I did find this one that looks like it has everything I want. I know this is probably a longshot, but does anyone have any feedback on this model or brand?

Thanks
Greg

To be honest, I don't know if this suits your needs, but I'm using Kata 3N1-30 backpack and it is great! You can check the reviews at Youtube. But I haven't ever had so comfortable backpack! And the system is stunning. Check it out

The Kata looks like a good versatile pack, except I don't see a place for a tripod holder. I didn't think it would that hard to find a camera pack that is meant to hold a regular size tripod. Too bad, because I like the way that bag is organized.

Umm, I'm not sure about the tripod thing, but I LOVE Crumpler bags. They're great quality and they all come in different sizes. :-) Would definitely recommend them!

It's an optional add-on.

One of my back packs and it is a good pack.

Lowepro - Rover AW II

You can carry a tripod with it, however I carry my tripod over my shoulder.
You may want to buy a couple of slip lock water bottle carriers for the belt as the two external mesh pockets are a little small and also I don't like carrying water bottles in the bag (just in case) and they are easy to access.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll take another look at the Lowepro and Crumpler bags. I have not seen the Crumpler ones yet.

Thanks for the link, inkista, you are an encyclopedia of photographic knowledge!

Snicker. No. It's just that I shoot spherical panos, so I wanted to find a backpack with a tripod holder, too.

These guys are the mavens of camera bags. The best part of the reviews is that they let reviewers upload photos of the bags loaded, so you can get a feel for how stuff fits.
