Default Which Polarizing Filter?

After seeing Scooter Pie's image with a Polarizing Filter it convinced me I need to have one of these in my bag but after looking at them there is quite a difference between brands and price. OK, I get that I need a Circular of Linear and thinner is better with quality glass but what else should I be looking for?

I'm looking at the 67mm Hoya Pro1 but if you folks have a better idea or I'm overlooking something I'd love your suggestions.

Thanks,
Twin

Make sure it's circular type and made of glass instead of plastic. I'd rather spend the extra money for quality instead of going cheap. I use a B + W circular filter, which costs me between 70 and 100.00. It's thin, so I can use it on every lens from the 16-35mm to 28-70 to 70-200mm.

Thank you Jim. My sentiments exactly about quality. After your recommendation and reading up a bit it looks like it will be B&W for me as well.

Again, thank you for taking the time to post!

I've heard B+W is the best. Hoya if you're on a budget.

Nice to hear that, Krusty. The Hoya I was considering was $90 delivered and I found the B&W for $96.50 delivered. That was a no brainer. Not to mention the 10 year warranty on the B&W CPL!

I admit I still have the kit 18-55 lens with a cheap Sunpak CPL. I am debating whether it is worth spending the $90 to get a B+W one when that's about the cost of my lens! If it's that close in price to the Hoya, I might bite the bullet and get one. Aw, crap, I guess I'll have to and hope the lens I eventually replace my 18-55 with also takes the same filter size.

The reviews about the B+W ones say they are high quality brass and they immediately feel like a well-made product.

If you are interested, NWV Direct is where I found the best price.

Make sure you go for the slim glass.
