I realise this isn't very specific, but...
By girlfriends nan tried to give me a video camera lamp yesterday. It's about 20+ years old. It's of no use to me but I said I would investigate and try and find out some more about it. I apologise for not having a photo of it yet. But it is mains powered and a block about 6x9x3 inches. One half is covered in a metal grill. The lamp is ridiculously bright and the whole casing heats up phenomenally within seconds. It came in a leather box with carrying strap. I've had a look on Google images but can't find anything like it. There are no stickers on it either. Does it ring any bells with anyone? Cheers

We'd need photos, at the very least. Your description is extremely lacking. It sounds like a continuous hot lamp with some kind of grid on it, which *can* be used, but you'll need to alter a few things.
