Hi All:
I will soon be purchasing a Canon 60D with a Canon EF-S 18-200mm lens. Since it has been some time since I have done photography with an SLR, I have lost touch with who makes quality filters. I want to get 72mm UV and Circularizing Polarizing lens filters. My research on lens filters produces a lot of "good/bad" for almost any brand. What brand would you recommend? My budget is in the range for $50-60 for each filter (obviously less if possible.) Thanks |

B+W is your best bet. A standard UV filter for protection will run you $42 US at B&H.

Also Heliopan, and the better grades of Hoya filters.
I like the coatings on Hoya's HD filters, they're far more smudge-resistant than others. The glass is supposed to be much tougher too, though I try not to test that theory. Eventcameras, slphotogear and lensgear on ebay are US sellers that have better-than-normal prices on filters. Most of my Hoya filters are from the latter two, and I've had no problems with them. |

For circular polarizers, I've heard B+W is the best - Hoya if you're on a budget. I think you will have to go with Hoya if you want to keep it under $60.
Regarding a UV filter, a lot of the pros on this site do not recommend one, as it is another piece of glass in front of your lens that could contribute to image degradation. Many recommend a lens hood instead, which could also help reduce glare.
