Default Advice on photography vest.

I am currently looking to purchase a photography vest. I did buy one in South Africa, but my 70-300mm and my 85mm lenses are too big for the pockets. Does anyone have any suggestions on what would work? I always carry these 2 lenses with me, plus batteries, flash, etc. I did see where they sell a lot of different ones on line, but nothing in town here where I can try something out.

Me too...... I also have the Domke PhoTogs Jacket, which can also convert into a vest as well.

I use Lowepro's Street and Field system. I only use the belt with pouches, but they have shoulder harnesses and full vests as well.

Have you considered a belt system like the M-Rock? I've got their belt and used it to carry gear with me down in to a volcano when I was out in Hawaii. It wasn't bad at all. I only had the camera on a Black Rapid strap and the tripod in my other hand and didn't even feel the weight of my gear on my waist.

Thank you everyone.

On the Domke vest....were you able to carry your 70-300mm lens or similar lens in the front pocket with no problem? The one I have now, the lens won't fit in the pockets....too wide.

The right hand side external zippered pocket will easily carry the Canon 70-300 F4.6-F5.6 IS Lens (with hood reversed). It will even hold a Canon 70-200 F4 L (with hood reversed) which is physically larger.

I use a custom made SWAT vest made for the Manila Police Department. My brother works for the US Embassy. His wife's family is from the Philippines. He gave it to me as a Christmas present last year. It is light and has ample storage for everything including an extra camera body, lenses, batteries and more.

Hahaha!!!!!!!! Don't forget the flashlight and gloves. All kidding aside, it works perfectly. It has more than enough pockets. My Tilley adds the final touch.
