Default Tripod Question

I want to begin using a tripod more and need one that will support my equipment (see my signature). My lense and grip make the camera heavy so I need a tripod that will handle the weight. Any suggestions?

There are so many Tripods out there which fit different applications and budgets and everyone will have their own opinions based on what they already have.
If you are able to make it into a camera store and attach your equipment to a few of them it could help with your choice.
Make sure it is a sturdy tripod, but sometimes it can be a compromise if you want it light enough to carry any great distance.
I have a couple of tripods (one of them is a little smaller and lighter for travel) and then a heavier one normal use as well as a monopod.
I am short, so height was not a big issue for me, but it can be best to get one that reaches your eye level without extending the centre post

I've collected a bunch of links because this question comes up a lot.

What kind of tripod should I buy?
