Default Needing advise to purchasing a monitor

Good Morning all! So i do a little pp but after the fact they are not the right color when printed. I have read all of the threads about col the monitor but i have a laptop right now that i'm using and don't think its the best way to edit, so i'm goign to purchase a regular monitor. I have heard "make sure the monitor is compatible with your camera? How do i do that? Can anyone recommend a monitor that they like and use? I know this is pretty wide open, but i wasn't sure how much it really does matter in the overall process, if you col it anyway. Thanks for any info!
